At BSCTC we currently have 2 all abilities, accessible minibuses and a wheelchair accessible Citreon Berlingo.
The Berlingo can be driven on a normal full UK car driving licence.
Minibus drivers must have an up to date MiDAS Certificate.
Accessible vehicle drivers will receive an induction, including an orientation of each vehicle and correct use of each vehicle's equipment. This includes boarding and securing wheelchair passengers and other passengers with disabilities.
FREE Minibus driver training will be given by our in house instructor and drivers will become MiDAS members.
Regular refresher training will be given.
Disability awareness training will also be given to drivers of our accessible vehicles.
Accessible Vehicle Drivers might find themslves driving:-
- the elderly
- wheelchair users
- people with visual and/or hearing impairment
- assistance dogs
- social / sports groups
- wedding parties
- to deliver / collect mobility scooters / wheelchairs
- people to shopping or to the theatre
